ロバート・モンダヴィ・ワイナリーのフラッグシップ「カベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン・リザーヴ」の背骨を貫く銘醸畑の魅力について、モンダヴィを所有するコンステレーション・ブランズのエデュケーター、マーク・デ・ヴィアMWがプロモーションでジャーナリスト山本昭彦先生に語りました。
ト・カロン・ヴィンヤードはナパヴァレーのハイウェイ29号を、ヨーントヴィルからオークヴィルに北上し、西側に見える「ようこそ、世界的に有名なワイン産地ナパヴァレーへ」という看板の後ろから、北はモンダヴィ・ワイナリーの後背地までに広がる。
栽培面積は274ha。
コンステレーション・ブランドは満を持して「ト・カロン・ヴィンヤード・カンパニー」を設立しました。
初ヴィンテージは2016年。
ト・カロンの葡萄のみを使い、最高峰のワインを作り上げる為に、ワインメーカーにアンディ・エリクソン(スクリーミング・イーグルの2代目ワインメーカーとして名を上げ、ダラ・ヴァレ、オーヴィッド、マヤカマスなどをコンサルタント)を抜擢し、ナパ・ヴァレーの世界最高峰の畑からワインを造り上げています。
ト・カロンが卓越している理由は何か？ マヤカマス山脈から流れてきた小川が形成する沖積扇状地のため水はけがめちゃめちゃ良い。
サン・パブロ湾から吹く冷たい海風がブドウに酸と自然なバランスを与え、ト・カロンはだれもが所有したいと願う世界一の優れた畑と言われています。
このH.W.Cは、ト・カロン・ヴィンヤードの創業者ハワード・W・クラブ氏の名前を冠した特別なワインです。
現在の3種のラインナップ(ハイエスト・ビューティー、エリザス・キュヴェ、H.W.C)の中のトップ・キュヴェです。
広大なト・カロン・ヴィンヤードは、いくつもの区画に分かれており、品種、台木、樹齢、クローン、仕立て、日当たり、斜面、土壌も多岐に亘るため、ト・カロン・ヴィンヤード・カンバニー創立後、ワインメーカーのアンディ・エリクソン氏とチームが様々な検証を行いました。
この H.W.C の為に選択したのは、中央部の29号線に近い区画です。
この区画は、ロバート・モンダヴィ氏自身(故人)が、1960年代に、この土地に惚れ込み、最高のカベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンを生み出すべく、自ら植樹した区画です。
2007年に改植していますが、現在も非常に収量が少なく、故に濃厚な果実となり、仕上がったワインは濃い深紫を示し、香り高く、エネルギーにあふれ、濃厚でリッチ。
最高のカベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンとなる条件が様々にマッチした、この区画は、いままで単独区画でリリースすることはありませんでしたが、多くの関係者から認識されていた区画です。
高い評価をうける醸造家アンディ・エリクソンが「ハイエスト・ビューティー」の理想を求めて、広大なト・カロン・ヴィンヤードの区画図を手に持ち、土壌と日照の角度を検証しながら全てのブロックを歩き、別々に醸造・熟成された56のキュヴェを全てテイスティングし、味わいと質感がその畑の区画を表現するものだけを選び出し、ト・カロンの美しさを表現するアンディーのベスト・チューニングを施しました。
それをアンディ・エリクソン氏がセレクトし、2016ヴィンテージからスタートしたハイエスト・ビューティー造りの際に検証し、ついに単独の特別キュヴェとしてリリースすることが出来ました。
初ヴィンテージが、この2018ヴィンテージとなります。
醸造は、厳格な選果を行い、醗酵・マセラシオンを約30日間行い、フレンチオーク樽(新樽100％)で、ハイエスト・ビューティー、エリザス・キュヴェより、4か月長い樽熟成(約2年半)後、瓶熟を経て、2022年の春にリリースされました。
To KALON VineyardHighest　H.W.C Cabernet Sauvingon 2019 ジェームスサックリング　100点満点 畑はト・カロン・ヴィンヤード(自社畑) 2019 年はワインメーカーにとって理想的な年でした。
全体を通しては涼しい年と言え、温暖な春から穏やかな夏に進み、涼しめの秋は生育期を長く取れ、ブロック毎の成熟度を判断しながら、収穫のタイミングを決めることができた。
特に果実のフレッシュさと味わいの複雑さは特筆すべき出来栄え。
今すぐ飲んでも十分楽しめるが、セラーでの長い年月を待つことで素晴らしい熟成が期待できる。
醸造：厳格な選果を行い、醗酵・マセラシオンを約 30 日間行い、仏産樽（新樽 100%）で他の 2 種 4 か月長い樽熟成(約 2 年半) 味わい：アンディ・エリクソンのコメント 素晴らしい特性をすべて捉えており、類いまれなるバランス、純粋さ、ぎゅっと詰まる様な密度を備えている。
ピンポイントで収穫のタイミングを狙った為成熟の頂点を捉え、醸造では抽出しすぎず、際立ったフレッシュさ、しなやかな口当たり、リッチさ、そして長い余韻を示す。
他の 2 種より 4 ヶ月追加樽熟成を行った為、リリース時期が遅い。
高いレベルの洗練さとシルキーなフィニッシュが加えられている。

　2009年に誕生した 「Y by YOSHIKI」は、日本を代表するアーティストYOSHIKIと、 ナパ・ヴァレーのワイン造り手一族の4代目であり醸造家のロブ・モンダヴィJr.とのコラボレーションです。
ワインはカリフォルニアの上質な畑のブドウを使用し、このパートナーシップの芸術性、 クオリティ、そして創造性を表現しています。
このカリフォルニア・アペレーションのワインは、 YOSHIKIが「スマート・カジュアル」と呼ぶ、普段のライフスタイルにも寄り添うワインです。

このワインは単一畑のカベルネ・ソーヴィニョン100％から造られ、 オーダーメイドのフレンチオーク樽で熟成されています。
【ボッテガ アマローネ・デッラ・ヴァルポリチェッラ】 アマローネ・プレタポルテは、4年間の熟成により、非常にエレガントで、ストラクチャーがあり、 長命なワインとして特別な存在となっています。
ボッテガのために、 アメリカ人デザイナー、デニス・フォシルは、メタルスタッズで縁取られたフェアレザーのラベルによって、 即座にインパクトを与えるファッションボトルを制作。
また、このデザイナーは、テーラードレザーのボックスも制作しています。
　ヴァルポリチェッラは、 古くからブドウ栽培に力を注いできた土地で、「ヴァリス・ポリス・チェラエ」という名前は、 「多くの貯蔵庫のある谷」を意味します。
ここでは、コルヴィナ・ヴェロネーゼ、コルヴィノーネ、ロンディネッラ、 モリナーラといった土着のブドウが栽培され、 重要でユニークな赤ワインを生産しています。
アマローネDOCGは、 ヴァルポリチェッラの最も高貴な赤ワインであり、最も重要なイタリアワインのひとつです。
