【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】
High demographic pressure on land due to burgeoning human and livestock population in the country have led to large scale degradation of available natural resources, both in quantitative as well as qualitative terms. Degradation of natural resources is yet continuing and being aggravated due to continuous over-exploitation of soil, water and vegetation resources which is leading to frequent nutrient deficiencies, decline in soil health, in situ chemical degradation of soil, depleting water table and ground cover, loss of bio-diversity, water erosion (93.6 million ha), formation of ravines (2.51 million ha) and pollution of water bodies. As such, degradation in state of natural resources is leading to serious threats to the environmental quality and food security. Large land degradation in India (146.02 million ha) can be attributed due to a cafeteria of factors mainly the intensive agriculture; improper crop rotations; shifting cultivation; unscientific, arbitrary and non sustainable land management practices; excessive irrigation and salinity in unlined canal command areas; imbalances in fertilizer use and over exploitation of soil nutrients; excessive pumping of underground water; over grazing and grazing of forests; deforestation beyond permissible limits; forest fires; open cast mining; extension of agriculture on marginal, sloping and steep lands and socioeconomic factors mainly the poverty. This is a crucial and high time for reverting the process of degradation of natural resources through suitable region specific technological options; realistic planning, executions and monitoring and investments for catering interests related to the environment and food security concerns in the country. This book entitled “Conservation of Natural Resources for Food and Environmental Security” contains 43 chapters under seven major themes. This book deals with the status of natural resources; management and efficient utilization of water resources; conservation technologies for food and environmental security; livelihood security and watershed management; rehabilitation of problem soils; governance and policy issues for community empowerment and regional experiences and future thrust areas. The book is published out of chapters contributed by eminent scientists, scholars and officers having rich and valuable experience in the field of natural resource conservation and management for sustaining the environmental quality and food security to burgeoning population in India. We hope that this book will be highly valuable to the scientists, teachers, scholars, policy makers, managers and extension agencies working in the field of natural resource management in the country in the years to come.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。

So it becomes mandatory for the owners to properly look after the animals’ food as well health issues. Domestic Animals’ diseases compromise animal welfare, reduce productivity, and can infect humans. Animal diseases may be tolerated, reduced through animal husbandry, or reduced through antibiotics and vaccines. In developing countries, animal diseases are tolerated in animal husbandry, resulting in considerably reduced productivity, especially given the low health-status of many developing country herds. Disease management for gains in productivity is often the first step taken in implementing an agriculture policy. The breeding goal of farm animals has changed over the years. Many cattle breeds were originally dual purpose, used for milk and meat production and occasionally draught purposes. Even now a lot of breeds are dual purpose breeds, combining relatively high milk production with good meat production thus providing significant extra revenue for the farmers. Beef recording and specialisation into beef breeds has mainly developed in the last 40 years " starting in the 1960s with weight recording on farm, later followed by performance testing in test stations allowing direct comparison of animals. Some poultry firms, starting from having only production characteristics like carcass quality in the breeding goal, have moved towards incorporating taste and health, and later also welfare in the breeding goals as well. This book is specially design for the undergraduate student in Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。

    【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】
Air and noise pollution often go side by side as also recognised in Air Prevention and Control of Pollution Act, 1981 of India. Air pollution means the presence in the atmosphere of any air pollutant whereas noise is any sound that is loud or unpleasant or causes disturbance and goes beyond 80 decibels. The main ambient air pollutants are particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, sulphur dioxide, volatile organic compounds, carbon monoxide, lead and toxic organic micro-pollutants, generated from road traffic emissions, commercial and residential combustion, thermal power plants, waste incineration, tobacco smoke, metal processing and other industries. Sources of noise pollution, categorised as industrial and non-industrial, include road traffic, aircraft, railroads, construction, industry, consumer appliances and recreational activities. Both air and noise pollutions are held accountable for a number of severe health impacts such as irritation, burning sensation and allergy of eyes; blood pressure and blood sugar; chronic lung and heart diseases; increased level of lead and other toxic substances; increased level of stress and anxiety, irritability, headaches, loss of hearing, sleep disruption, impaired learning, diminished productivity and more. Present volume of the series includes articles on air pollution monitoring, sampling, analysis, health effects, control strategies and more. Topics being covered in this volume are: o Air pollution monitoring, modeling and control o Determination of air pollution sampling points in industrialized - urban areas o Air pollution from automobiles and strategies for its control o Air quality impact assessment of fluoride emissions from an Aluminium smelter o Assessment of combustion noise emission in a turbocharged diesel engine o Environmental dimensions of fly ash released from thermal power plants o Application of long-memory model underoutliers to air pollution levels o Disinfection of air and surfaces in medicine with aerosolization o Analysis of cigarette smokes by Fourier transform ion resonance mass spectrometry o Firefighters occupational exposure to air pollutant levels and potential health effects o Acoustic of sound propagation, health effects and mitigative measures of noise pollution o Air pollution and impacts o Effects of air pollution on leaves of urban trees The volume 3 contains 13articles from 39 researchers and/or academicians representing 9 nations, namely Argentina, Brazil, France, Greece, India, Mexico, Portugal, Slovenia and Spaingiving an overview of the various research activities being carried out in different parts of the world on Air and Noise Pollution.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。

    【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】
Climate change is a substantial variation in global or regional climate patterns including average temperature, precipitation and wind. The term has been more widely used with change of temperature over past century as compared to variation in precipitation and wind. Man-made activities are largely responsible for climate change all over the globe. Unfortunately the change is more rapid and dangerous than earlier estimations. One might say that this whole world is now one vast uncontrolled experiment. The global mean temperature has risen by 0.7°C in last century leading to dire consequences in the form of heat waves, shrinking of glaciers, drop in average rainfall and a lot more. Further temperature rise may result in irreversible impacts on our ecosystems and food and water supply. Sustainable development is a holistic approach that meets the needs of present generations within the carrying capacity of supporting ecosystem. This way development can be sustained for generations. The requisite sustainable technologies able to reduce climate change parameters upto 80% over a period of century are now available. There is a pressing need to apply these technologies across different sectors of economy right from resource extraction, processing, packaging, post-production to the generation, disposal and recycling of wastes. This volume presents a rich collection of articles on causes and impacts of climate change on our ecosystem along with practically approachable sustainable technological solutions to mitigate the climate change problems. An outline of the articles covered in this volume is as under: o Climate change and sustainability technology o Climatic impacts of aerosols o Catalytic conversion of greenhouse gases to control global warming o Remote sensing for environment and climate diagnostics o Analysis of aridity in relation to climate and sustainability of cotton production in India o Climate change cause, impact, management and agricultural sustainability o Sustainability indicators of the emergent agronomic practices from Indian perspective o Advances in production of GM crops in context of climate change o Land use change and climate change impacts in various agro-ecological settings in western Ghats and coastal plains of south India o Toward a conceptual framework of forming psychological safety climate in construction o Moisture conservation practices for mitigating soil water stress under changing climate o Oleaginous microorganisms for biofuel development o Microalgal culture as a sustainable technology for management of CO2 emissions o Climate change impact on water resources of India o Climate change and global water crisis The present volume is comprised of 15 articles contributed by 33 academicians and active researchers from 4 countries, namely Hong Kong, India, Portugal and United States of America presenting an overview of the ongoing activities in the area of Climate Change and Sustainable Technology.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。

    【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】
A healthy environment is an essential component of life for all living organisms on the planet. Today clean and healthy environment has attained status of a fundamental human right. All ancient religious scriptures too teach to live in harmony with nature. These scriptures follow a worshipful attitude towards earth, sky, air, water, plants, trees, birds, animals, rivers, oceans, hills and mountains. However, the uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources in the name of development and the emission of vast quantities of resulting pollutants both have disturbed the fine balance of nature. Although, development is a fundamental right of every human being, it should not come at the cost of ruining the planet.
As Mahatma Gandhi said that The earth has enough for every man's need but not for every man's greed. With this background, the present volume on Environmental and Energy Management (ethics, laws and policies) is a nice collection of articles that address the related issues in parts as well as whole. 【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】
Soil pollution is the presence of any harmful liquid, solid or sludge material, chemical, substance or object in soil in high enough concentrations that may cause adverse effects to human health and ecosystem. Soil pollution mainly develops through man-made activities like accidental spill and leakage of chemicals; foundry, manufacturing, mining, construction, agriculture and transportation activities and dumping of household, medical and industrial wastes in landfills leading to groundwater contamination and generation of toxic gases. Everyone including humans, plants, animals and ecosystem coming in close contact with contaminated soil is susceptible to soil pollution. A number of in situ and ex situ techniques has been developed to decontaminate polluted soils. These methods include removal of contaminated soil and deposit it in landfills or to incinerate it. Various soil washing techniques have been developed for removal of heavy metals including physical and chemical methods. However, none of these methods is ideal for remediating contaminated soils and often, more than one method is applied to get the desired result. Phytoremediation is a latest alternate technology developed for treatment of soil contaminated with organic and inorganic contaminants. Phytoremediation makes use of living green plants and associated soil microbes for in situ removal, reduction or containment of toxic effects or concentrations of range of contaminants including metals, pesticides, solvents, explosives, crude oil, polyaromatic hydrocarbons and landfill leachates in soils, sludges, sediments, surface water and groundwater. With the above background, the topics covered in this volume include: o Soil pollution and phytoremediation o Major sources and types of soil pollutants o Study of factors and environmental monitoring of urban soils contamination o Effect of soil amendments on the mobility and availability of potentially toxic trace elements in phytoremediated contaminated soils o Behaviour of heavy metals in soils-distribution and interaction with soil constituents o An overview of phytoremediation o Phytoremediation of heavy metals by catharanthus roseus linn o Phytoremediation and bioremediation of contaminated soils o Phytoremediation for soil health improvement o Phytoremediation of abandoned mining areas using native plant species o Electrokinetic and electrochemical remediation of contaminated soils o Levels assessment and origin study of PAHs in organisms and sediments o Adsorption of heavy metal cations on bentonite and bentonite/iron oxide composite o Behaviour of flazasul furon and tribenuron-methyl on soil biology o Phytoremediation and bioremediation of Pb, Cu, Hg, Cd, Ni and Zn o Eco-friendly techniques for heavy metal toxicity removal from polluted soil and water The present volume contains 16 articles from 48 researchers, academicians and professionals representing 12 nations, namely Bulgaria, China, Ecuador, Egypt, France, India, Italy, Morocco, Russia, Slovak, Spain and Syria giving an overview of the various research activities being taken in different parts of the world on Soil Pollution and Phytoremediation.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。

Few examples of toxic agents are lead, mercury, chlorine, methanol, coal dust, asbestos fiber, noise and radiation. The dose of a substance is all in toxicology that classifies whether the substance under consideration is toxic or not. Paracelsus who is regarded as the father of toxicology stated on significance of dose that All substances are poisons; there is none which is not a poison. The right dose differentiates a poison and a remedy. The toxicity of a substance depends on a number of factors like form and innate chemical activity, dosage, dose-time relationship, exposure route, species, age, sex, ability to be absorbed, metabolism, distribution within the body, excretion and presence of other toxic substances. Environmental toxicology uses a variety of techniques to study the impact of toxic agents on living organisms and provides powerful tools for assessing the risks associated with the presence of these agents. The present volume 6 offers a good stock of articles on toxicology, environmental fate of agricultural chemicals, toxic effects of hospital waste, toxic effects of herbicides on fishes and many more. The topics covered in this volume include: o Introduction to toxicology o A primer on pesticides o Environmental fate and toxicology of pesticides o Practical approaches towards pesticides degradation o Pesticide transformation products as contaminants of water compartments o Pesticide residue in agricultural and aquaculture products of India o Pesticides classification and its impact on human and environment o Solid waste from hospital and their toxic effects on aquatic organisms o No steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs as contaminants of concern for aquatic organisms o RP-HPLC based development and characterization of drugs o Properties, occurrence and content of polyphones in food and potential effects o Effects of commercial herbicides with glyph sate against amphibian and fishes o Fighting parasites with photodynamic reactions involving chlorophyll derivatives o Bone growth, oxidative stress and antioxidant responses to implantation of titanium plate o Behavioral toxicity of diesel in estuarine mud whelk of Sundar bans biosphere reserve o Organ phosphorus insecticides and organ toxicity o Environmental toxins and neurodegeneration o Biopesticides for environmental safety This volume contains 18 articles from 48 researchers and/or academicians representing 9 nations, namely Argentina, China, Egypt, Germany, India, Libya, Mexico, Spain and United States of America giving an overview of the various research activities being carried out in different parts of the world in the field of Toxicology.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。

    【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】
With advances in experimental methods and new scientific tools, notably in the past three decades, numerous active principles from medicinal herbs have been isolated in pure form and these principles along with the synthetic compounds, are the drugs of present day now almost exclusively used in the management of many of the diseases and conditions. Consequently we have many new drugs of choice including hypolipidaemic, hepatic protective and anti-inflammatory and for cardiac remedies. This has led to generating considerable research data globally, particularly in the area of discovery of new drugs from natural resources. In order to carry forward such investigations, there is a need for an effective exchange of information amongst scientists and researchers to take on vigorous focused work in this direction. Based on this rationale, the present volume Biopharmaceuticals of the series Recent Progress in Medicinal Plants has been conceived and presents some 30 research and review papers by eminent scientists of India and abroad. These studies provide recent research data on medicinal properties and action of a large number of herbs investigated as antimicrobials, anticarcinogenics, ant rheumatics, antiulcerogenics, anti malarial, ant diabetics, antimutagenics, hypoglycemic, immunomodulatory, anti tumorogenics, artifeedant etc. The information could serve as basic material for further work in the direction of developing new phototherapeutics.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。

    【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】
Allelopathy the term coined by Prof. Hans Molisch, a German Plant Physiologist in 1937 is a new field of science. However, no standard methods are being used by various workers due to lack of compendium on the Techniques, hence, the results obtained are not easily comparable with each others. Till now lot of allelopathy research has been done in various fields of Agricultural and Plant Sciences. However, there is no compilation of various Research Methods used. Every scientist is conducting research in his own way. Therefore, to make available the standard methods for conducting research independently in plant sciences, this Multi-volume book has been planned. Since there are several disciplines/areas of research, hence, separate volume has been planned for each discipline. Prof. S.S. Narwal has planned this multivolume book Research Methods in Plant Sciences: and till now 8-volumes have been published and 3 volumes including this one are in 'In Press'. The book is devided into 3 Sections: Section I. Soil Preparation and Preliminary Analysis that includes 3 chapters (Samples collection, Handling and storage, Colorimetric analysis, TLC and PC analysis). Section II. Analysis of Soil Allelochemicals has 15 Chapters (Amino acids, Enzymes, Lipids, Carbohydrates, Phenolic compounds, Terpenoids, Alkaloids, Cyanogenic compounds, Reactive oxygen species, Antioxidant capacity, Enzymatic, antioxidant system, Adenine and pyridine nucleotides, Vitamins, Jasmonates). In addition, Section III contains appendices. This book will serve as ready reference in the Laboratory or Class-Room teaching and will provide detailed methods for Laboratory and field studies in Agriculture and allied fields of Plant Sciences. Information provided can be used to determine the different allelochemicals in various types of Agro-ecosystems. It will be useful for Under-graduate and Post-graduate students and researchers, soil scientists, biochemists, chemists and other plant science specialists. We have tried to provide appropriate methods to determine allelochemicals in soils. The users of this book can select suitable methods, according to the available facilities.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。
